Shruti Sadolikar Biography 
Shruti Sadolikar Katkar is a Hindustani vocalist belonging to Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. She sings in khyal style and is immensely popular in music circles. She also practices and performs Thumri, Tappa and Natya Sangeet. She belongs to a music family where her father and brothers are associated with traditional Hindustani music. In 2011 Sangeet Natak Akademi awarded her with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for her outstanding contributions to the field of music. She currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of the Bhatkhande Music Institute University in Lucknow. She has also rendered her voice for a few film songs.
Shruti Sadolikar was born in 1951 in Maharashtra. Her ancestral family belongs to Kolhapur, closely linked with music traditions. She received initial training from her father, Wamanrao Sadolikar who received music training from some of the leading vocalists of yesterdays. Her father too was a leading name in Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana founded by his guru, Ustad Alladiya Khan. Later she continued training under Gulubhai Jasdanwala for 12 years. Sadolikar completed her master’s degree from SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai and the Homi Bhabha Fellowship of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. She wrote a thesis on Haveli Sangeet, a type of temple music.
She performs all forms of Indian classical and semi-classical music, including thumri, tappa, and natya sangeet. She performs in India and abroad. Many of her musical and educational recordings have been published and available now. She holds the Homi Bhabha Fellowship of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and has earned many recognitions and awards. She has produced and composed music for one play for students in 1999. The play was named "Sangeet Tulsidas".
