Shama Sikander Biography

Shama Sikander is an actress, model and producer. Now she is the managing director of Chocolate Box Films India Pvt. Ltd, a Mumbai India based film Production Company. She debut Bollywood in the year 1998 with the much anticipated project, Prem Agan. It was the career launch of actor Fardeen Khan, which bombed at box office. Shama was only 16 then. Later she appeared in many music videos which became popular. Next year, she appeared in the Aamir Khan starrer Mann (1999) in a cameo as 'Kamini'. She has also did supporting role in 2002 Bollywood flick – Ansh. Her brother, Rizwan Sikander is also an actor. She has been featured in numerous magazines as well as the cover of GR8! Magazine, as she is popular for her strict diet regime and style consciousness.

Her full name is Shama Sikander Gesawat. She was born in Rajasthan in 1981 as the daughter of Gulshan and Sikander Gesawat. The family moved to Mumbai in Mumbai. She has 3 younger siblings and had hard childhood days due to poor financial conditions. After completing higher secondary education, Sikander enrolled in the Roshan Taneja School of Acting in Mumbai in 1995 and graduated in 1996. She along with her younger brother used to frequently travel in the outskirts of Mumbai to get an opportunity in Bollywood.

She debut Bollywood in 1998 with the movie Prem agan. She was selected through a screen test. But the movie flopped. Later too, as she couldn’t get big roles in Bollywood, she moved to television and appeared in a few music videos as well. In 2003, she debut television with Yeh meri life hai, where she played the role of Pooja. She was named “one of the most loved faces on Indian television” after this daily soap and gathered numerous awards as well. She won Critics choice – Best actress award at Lion's Gold Awards also. She also worked in Seven, Baal veer, Kaajjal, CID and Man Mein Hai Visshwas.
