Sendhil Ramamurthy Biography

Sendhil Ramamurthy is an American actor of Indian origin. He was born in Chicago to physicians, a Kannadiga father and a Tamil Indian mother and later he was brought up in US. He played the role of geneticist Mohinder Suresh in the NBC Sci-Fi drama Heroes, which made him a popular television actor. Jai Wilcox in the Action Spy series Covert Affairs is his next popular role. He appeared in the Bollywood movie, Shor in the city where he played one among the three male leads of three different stories. Noted Marathi actress Girija Oak played his female lead.

Sendhil Ramamurthy was born May 17, 1974 in Chicago. Noted American actor, screenwriter and comedian, Jay Chandrasekhar is his cousin. He was brought up speaking both Kannada and English. He graduated from Keystone School in 1991. He is married to Polish-born American actress, Olga Sosnovska and the couple has two children. Though he joined pre-med major at Tufts University, he dropped it to pursue his dreams in acting career. He took an "Intro to Acting" class as a part of his academic studies and that’s how he got attracted to acting. He also participated in several plays and got associated with theatre of different productions. He also appeared in television shows like Ellen, Casualty, Guiding Light, Grey's Anatomy etc.

Sendhil predetermined that he will never be type casted into typical Indian roles on American television and theatre. His role as geneticist Mohinder Suresh in Heroes is his most popular role up-to-date. Currently he plays the role of Gabriel Lowen in romantic series, Beauty & the Beast. He has also appeared in a few movies.
