Sanhita Nandi is one of the foremost students of her guru. She performs in Khayal and Thumri genres of music. She has assimilated the distinctive features of Kirana Gharana, blending its two wings to make use of the full range of slow and fast tempos of this genre of music, with 150 years of inheritance.

Sanhita Nandi received initial training in Hindustani music from A. Kanan of Kirana Gharana, and later from Mashkoor Ali Khan, under whom she is still learning. She also learnt under Pt. Vinayak Torvi for a few years in the Kirana and Gwalior traditions. She has been invited to perform at music festivals in India and abroad. She has performed at music concerts in the US and Canada, which include - Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Museum of Art etc. She has attended some of the elite music festivals of India such as Sawai Gandharva Music Festival, Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior, Saptak Festival of Music in Ahmedabad, Parampara Dance and Music Festival in Chennai etc.

Some of her distinct traits in vocals include - slow tempo of raga development (voice culture, voice throw, and tonal application), ornamented sargams and exposition of "chota Khayal and tarana" with inimitable "taan" patterns.
