Samrat Pandit Biography 
Samrat Pandit is an Indian classical vocalist of the Patiala Gharana. He hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is the youngest son of legendary Hindustani singer, Padma Shree Jagdish Prasad. His grandfather Badri Prasad was the court musician of the former principality of Raigarh during princely state rule. Thus music was in his veins. He used to accompany his father in many concerts since young. Jagdish Prasad launched Samrat’s career in 2001 as a teenager. Since then Samrat has given many solo performances, and has succeeded as a leading voice of present times. He also sings in lighter popular styles. Thumri, bhajan, tappa and khyal are his favourites.
Samrat Pandit was born on 21 August 1982 in Kolkata. He has ancestral roots in Raigarh with strong musical background. His father permanently shifted to Kolkata, and Samrat was born there. Young Samrat was introduced to the world of music by his father, who gave him formal lessons at a younger age. Samrat participated in the "Bal Kalakar" program of AIR Bhopal when he was just 5 years old. After that he used to accompany his father for his music concerts, and also performs along with him. His solo journey started in 2001 at the age of 19. Yet he assisted his father for his shows later too. His mother, Sandhya Pandit is an English teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya. She also accompanies her son and play tanpura when he performs.
As a solo artist or accompanying father, he has performed for many TV channels, and live shows in India and abroad. His first solo album, "Patiala Prince” was released in 2012. He performed at the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival as a solo artist in Pune, in 2012 and 2017. He has toured Europe multiple times and one time to North America. He is also an ex-boxer and likes physical activities. He also loves adventurous sports and yoga.
