Salim Merchant Biography 
Salim Merchant is a composer cum playback singer of Bollywood at present. Known for his cute smiles and personality, he has also hosted a few reality shows in Television including Indian Idol – Season 5 and 6. He along with his brother, Sulaimaan Merchant has formed the musical pair of composers – Salim Sulaimaan. They have also given background score for many successful movies like Kaal, Krishh, Bhoot, Dhoom, Ab tak chappan and Mujhse shaadi karoge. They belong to an Ismaili Muslim family of Kutch Gujarat and are musically inspired by their father - Sadruddin Merchant. They have worked for leading producers/directors of the industry including Yash Chopra, Karan Johar, Subhash Ghai and Ram Gopal Varma. They have remixed Lady Gaga's songs ‘Born This Way and Judas’ in Bollywood style. The musical duo have collaborated with South African singer Loyiso Bala and Kenyan singer Eric Wainaina anthem for 2010 FIFA World cup.
Salim Merchant mastered the piano on at the Trinity College of Music in London and is popular in Bollywood music since 2003 with songs of Bhoot. The success continued with songs of Kaal and Iqbaal. They had landed Bollywood a few years back, yet it took 6 years to get noticed. They have a successful association with Karan Johar movies. Among their significant works, music of Kaal, Band Baaja Baaraat, Aashayein, Pyar impossible, Rocket Singh – Salesman of the year, Neal n Nikki, Love Breakups Zindagi, Heroine, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Jodi breakers, Dor, Darna mana hai, Iqbaal, Kurbaan, Bombay to Bangkok, Roadside Romeo, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Ungli, Teen Deewarein, Chakravyooh, Ghaat, Fashion, 8 x 10 Tasveer, Luck and Bhoot are noted most. They have done a telugu movie - Anagananga Oka Dheerudu in the year 2011.
As a singer, the best songs of Salim Merchant are Shukra Alla and Title track of Kurban, Salaam zindagi of Lamha, Rama re of Kaante, Khudaya ve of Luck, Aashiyana of Fashion, E khuda of Paatshaala, Pe pe pein of Chance pe dance, Maa ka ladla of Dostana, Title track of Teen patti and Ruddi ne rangeeli and So ja re of Bhoomi. Despite being nominated for background score for many movies and creating many magic tunes, they have never been nominated in Filmfare for best music directors till now!
