Sagarika Biography 
Sagarika Mukherjee, best known as Sagarika is a singer associated with independent music from Bengal. She is the sibling of the very popular Hindi playback singer, Shaan. They together have performed regularly and also released several albums. Sagarika’s name is mostly associated with independent music and pop songs, and she was quite popular in the 1990s when Indipop had just started to become popular in India. In fact she is one of the earliest Indipop stars.
Sagarika was born on 4 September 1970 in West Bengal. Shaan is two years younger to her. Her grandfather was the lyricist Jahar Mukherjee, his father was the late music director Manas Mukherjee. She lost her mother at the age of 15, and later her mother had to find work as a singer to support the family. She worked in film industry as a child singer for the movie, "Shayad" in 1979 composed by her father.
Shaan started his singing career in 1989 by singing for the movie, Parinda. Yet he earned success as a singer, by working with his elder sister when they signed up with Magnasound recording company and recorded a few successful albums in a series since early 1990s. The hit album Naujawan followed by Q – Funk, which sold a million copies established the siblings as pop stars. Later Shaan moved to films, received so many opportunities and turned a very popular male voice while Sagarika couldn’t achieve that much success.
Sagarika is married to Martin Da Costa from Portugal. Da Costa came to India in 1995 and met Sagarika while working for the music company that managed her portfolio. After dating for two years, they got married. Now she is happily married with a son. It’s All About Love and Maa are among her solo albums. She has also collaborated with Pakistani band Strings for the song "Pal".
