Rupam Islam Biography 
Rupam Islam is a playback singer and lyricist of Bengali movies. He is the lead singer of the band Fossils. In 2010, he won national award for best playback singer for the movie - Mahanagar @ Kolkata. The song is "Ei To Ami". At present he is a member of Bangla Sangeet Academy. He has done playback singing for Bangla movies like - Cholo Lets Go, Madly Bangalee, Kanchan Babu, Jiyo Kaka, Olotpalot, Shukno Lanka, Dwando, Aleya, Angshumaner Chhobi, Piyalir Password Antim Swash Sundar, Autograph, Baishe Srabon, Icche, Bedroom and Mahanagar@Kolkata. He is regarded as pioneer of Bengali Rock songs.
Rupam was born on 25 January 1974 in a musical family. So, he received early training from his parents, Nurul Islam and Chhandita Islam. He started performing on stage along with parents at the age of 4. When he became 9 years old, he became a regular performer of Aakashvani and Doordarshan and had performed in many live concerts as well. He graduated from Asutosh College in English literature. He took B. Ed degree and started his career as a teacher. He remained in teaching profession till 2006 when he decided to completely concentrate on to music career.
The popular music band Fossils was born in the year 1998. Within 5 years, it became one of the top musical bands of Bengal. He played the role of lead singer, lyricist as well as music composer for the band. Fossils has released 5 albums till now and all are successful. Rupam’s first solo album Tor Bhorshate was released by HMV in 1998. This album has been re-released twice due to its popularity. A duo album called RnB, released in 2007 has been a chartbuster. Na Hayante (2010) and Nishkromon (2011) for SaReGaMa are other released albums of Rupam. Rupam’s debut Hindi movie was Jannat (2007) and the song was ‘Jannat jahaan’.
