Ronkini Gupta Biography

Ronkini Gupta is an Indian playback singer belonging to Bollywood. She has gained popularity in the recent times through the songs of Tumhari Sulu and Sooji Daaga. The song "Rafu" in Tumhari Sulu (2017) shot her to instant fame and also helped her to bag her the first nomination at Filmfare awards in the best female playback singer category. She is the winner of Saregamapa World Series reality show aired on Zee TV in 2004. The show helped her to earn instant fame. However she had to wait for a long period to earn success from Bollywood.

 

"Chaav Laaga" with Papon and the solo track "Tu Hi Aham" are her recorded songs from Sooji Daaga. She is best known for nicely blending classic music with contemporary. In year 2005 she has co-composed one song for the Bollywood movie, Mr Ya Miss. The song is Kanha Kanha, which she composed aside Zoeb Khan. "Kaise Shukh Soyein" of Aankhon Dekhi, "Gori Gori Paan" of Dry Day, "Jahan Jaun Tujhe Paun" of Pyaar Vali Love Story etc are a few songs for which Gupta rendered her voice. She has also sung for a few Marathi films. "Awkhalase Sparsh Te" for Marathi film, Jai Maharashtra Dhaba Bhatinda marked her singing debut in 2013.

 

Ronkini Gupta hails from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. She is a distinction holder - Sangeet Visharad from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Hindustani Classical. She also trained in Gwalior Gharana of Hindustani music from Chandrakant Apte. She took advanced learning in Hindustani music from renowned gurus like Ustad Dilshad Khan (in the early 2000s) followed by Pt. Samaresh Chowdhary and Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan till 2007. In 2004 she won the singing reality show, Saregamapa World Series which earned her initial recognition.
