Rohail Hyatt Biography

Rohail Hyatt is a Pakistani music composer and musician, who has also worked for a few movies in Bollywood. As a music composer of Bollywood films, he is best known for the iconic song – Jiya Dadak Dadak from 2005 movie, Kalyug recorded in the voice of Rahet Fateh Ali Khan. He composed the song aside Faisal Rafi, with lyrics penned by Sayeed Quadri, and this solo track was one of the early smash Bollywood hits of famous Pakistani singer, Rahet Fateh Ali Khan. He is known as a record producer, keyboardist, and composer in Pakistani music industry. His son Danial Hyatt is also a musician, who currently works in Pakistani film and music industry.  

 

Rohail Hyatt was born on December 4, 1966 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He grew up in Khattar family of Sir Liaqat Hayat Khan, a prominent Punjabi leader of British India. His interest in music grew in his early childhood and his parents encouraged his interest in Western music. He grew up in hippie community with western influences. But when his parents bought him his first keyboard, he began composing traditional Pakistan music. His mother deeply influenced him in his musical journey. When his aunt bought Pink Floyd's The Wall album in 1980, he got drawn towards western music.

 

He also played cricket during his younger days, and was a member of the Under-19 Pakistan cricket team. Along with guitarist Shahzad Hasan and Rizwan-ul-Haq, he formed a musical band while at college. In 1980s, he was a member of two underground bands – Progressions and Crude X. Bassist Nusrat Hussain influenced him a lot in his musical career. During the mid of 1980s, Hyatt left the university and worked in British embassy.
