Reewa Rathod Biography

Reewa Rathod is an Indian singer from Mumbai. She is the daughter of well-known ghazal and playback singers, Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod. She is trained in both Carnatic and Hindustani music, and is also associated with fusion music in her performances. She has also rendered her voice for independent music. She sings thumri, tappa, Carnatic, Punjabi folk, old Hindi classics, Marathi, English pop, and some of her own compositions for her music performances.

 

Reewa started learning piano at the age of four and did eight grades from the Royal School of London. She learnt Carnatic and Hindustani classical, and she is good at picking up any languages with ease. So, she can sing in Arabic, Spanish and Japanese. She can also sing songs in Turkish and Spanish as well. In 2011 she made her first an opening act performance when she came as the opening act for a Bryan Adams concert in Pune. She sang her own song "Crossing Limits” for her first ever performance on stage. She has also performed long back at the age of 4 in Mumbai.

 

Reewa was born in Mumbai into a family of renowned singer. Both her parents Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod don’t need special introduction in the world of Indian music, and inspired from parents, Reewa too reached the same field. She studied Carnatic music from Prasanna Varrior and Hindustani classical music training from the duo Rajan-Sajan Misra of Banaras Gharana, apart from doing eight grades from the Royal School of London. Currently she is fully engaged with her musical concerts, performing in India and abroad. She has also released one single – Saanwal most recently in 2019, where she collaborated with Piyush Sahdev.
