Ravi Tripathi Biography 
Ravikant SriKrishna Tripathi, popularly known as Ravi Tripathi is an Indian playback singer from Mumbai. His family is originally from Uttar Pradesh. He was one among the top 7 finalists of music reality show Indian Idol season 2. He has anchored singing reality show Close-Up-Performer telecasted on Doordarshan. ‘India se aaya tere dost’ from the movie Chandni Chowk To China marked his debut as a playback singer. He has also released a few private albums. He was awarded with Awadh Ratna Samman for the year March 2010. Baatein and Sri Siddhivinayak Morya are his private albums.
He was born on 4th February 1978 in Lalganj, Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh . His father Sri Krishna Tripathi is a retired Government officer. His maternal grandfather Pandit Rajpati Shastri was an accomplished singer. His mother too has learnt Hindustani music and she taught young Ravi first lessons of music at the age of 4. His schooling was done at Pratapgarh and his teachers noticed his talent as a child and encouraged him a lot to participate in many competitions. He was the winner of gold medal in state level competitions for 6 consecutive years. He completed his graduation in Social Work from the Lucknow University, and moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in music. It was against his father’s wish.
On reaching Mumbai, he got encouraged from famous artists of Bollywood - Ravindra Jain and Suresh Wadkar. He became a part of the Ajivasan Gurukul and learnt under Suresh Wadkar. Indian Idol 2 provided him a good platform to move forward. His talent was well appreciated by judges and he was able to finish at position 7. He represented India and performed with Hollywood star Jackie Chan in the Asian Games 2010 Countdown show at China.
