Ramesh Narayan Biography 
Ramesh Narayan is a famous music director of Malayalam known for giving Hindustani touches to Malayalam songs. "Gharshom", "Elayum Mullum", "Magrib", "Megha Malhar", "Makalkku", "Anyar", "Sheelabati" are a few instances. He is a noted Hindustani vocalist too and he learnt it from renowned Pandit Jasraj of Mewati gharana. Initially he studied Carnatic music. Narayan has done concerts across the country as well as worldwide. He was honoured with the title- "Nada Chinthamani" in the year 1998 for his music achievements.
Ramesh was born in a music family on March 11, 1959 in Kuthuparamba, Kannur. His family has many Carnatic vocalists. Till 20, he learnt Carnatic music from his parents. While studying at Music College, Chittoor, he was attracted towards Hindustani music and decided to conquer it as well. Thus he switched from Carnatic to Hindustani. He went to Pune and learnt Sitar under the tutelage of Satchidananda Phadke. Very soon, he learnt it and later decided to learn Hindustani music as well. He joined the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and took “Visharad” with high distinction. Then he went for a rigorous training under Pandit Jasraj. He learnt Khayal and Bhajan. He was honoured by Pandit Jasraj at the Pandit Motiram Maniram Musical Festival, Hyderabad, 1994.
Ramesh is married to Hema, who was a student earlier and she too accompanies him in concerts. On October 8, 1994 he entered into the Guinness Book of Records for singing continuous 30 hour concert at the Soorya Dance & Music festival. John Abraham Award 2001, Akashavani Annual Award for the year 1997 and Virtuoso Award, Chennai 2005 are a few among the honours received by Narayan. In 2007, ratrimazha earned him Kerala State Film Awards for best music director and in 2005 he got Best Background Music scorer for the film 'Saira'.
