Rahul Deshpande Biography 
Rahul Deshpande is an Indian classical music singer from Pune. He is the grandson of famous Hindustani vocalist, Vasantrao Deshpande, known for his contribution to musical dramas, particularly his role as "Khansaheb" in Katyar Kaljat Ghusli. Rahul has given numerous stage performances, and has also rendered his voice for playback singing. As a playback singer his songs are included in the movies, Balgandharva, Katyar Kaljat Ghusali and his upcoming project, A Month and a Week, where he makes screen appearance too. Rahul has appeared as a judge for several singing reality shows on television. "Khansaheb Aftab Hussain Bareliwale" is one of his most popular film songs.
Rahul Deshpande was born in Pune in 1979 into a musical family, with strong background in Hindustani music. He learnt the music of Kumar Gandharva, and got influenced by it. He happened to hear a cassette of nirguni abhang songs sung by Kumar Gandharva after his death and got totally immersed in his style of music. Years later he used to sing Kumar Gandharva’s songs for lie concerts.
Slowly he got drawn by the world of music and initially studied under Pandit Gangadharbuva Pimpalkhare and Dr.Madhusudhan Patwardhan. He also took advanced learning in music, apart from tabla. In music he is expert in different genres of Hindustani light music such as khyal, thumri, dadra, natyageet, bhajan, ghazal and bhaavgeet. His wife’s name is Neha Deshpande and the couple has one daughter.
He is a recipient of numerous awards including Rasikagrani Dattopant Deshpande Award, Sudhir Phadke Award, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards 2012, Rasikagrani Dattopant Deshpande Award etc. After giving classical concerts, he rarely performs other genres of songs in the public.
