Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Biography

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the leading male voice of Bollywood at present. His songs are at top demand and all are chartbusters too. Born in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, he has become indispensible part of Bollywood music in the past one decade or so. He belongs to the famous Fateh Ali Khan family of Pakistan. His grandfather was legendary Qawwali singer Fateh Ali Khan. He is the son of Ustad Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and the nephew of music legend – Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan of Pakistan. He has given significant contribution to Bollywood music in the past few years or so and has won many awards including Filmfare.

 

He learnt Qawwali leasons from his uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and started learning at the age of 3. He started performing in concerts at the age of 7. From there on he began to see singing seriously as a profession. From the year 1996 onwards he began to release numerous music albums in his name. He has done a few compilations and done drama songs and serial songs for Pakistan. He started working for Lollywood from the year 1997 onwards – exactly the same year when his uncle passed away at a comparatively younger age of 48.

 

He debut Bollywood as a singer in the movie ‘Paap’ in the year 2003 and the song was ‘Mann ki lagan’. His voice resembled his uncle’s voice and singing style a lot. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had a lot of fans all over India and hence Rahut’s voice acted as the filling of void created by unexpected death of versatile singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. From there onwards began the great journey of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and became the most sought singer of Bollywood.

 

Usually he sings one song for an album and it becomes huge hit too.
