Nikhil Mathew Biography 
Nikhil Mathew is a popular south Indian playback singer who predominantly works in Tamil and Malayalam films. "AzhalinteAzhangalil" from AyalumNjanumThammil is one of his major hits, which earned him ManassilThotta Singer at Big FM Melody Awards, and also the Best song of the year at Mirchi Awards. The winner of the Airtel Super Singer reality show on Vijay TV in 2006, he got his first break through the popular music composer - Harris Jayaraj. The song was Enadhuyire, a song which he sang with three leading young singers of Tamil film industry.
Nikhil Mathew hails from Kottayam, Kerala, born into a Christian family. Dr. A.V. Mathew and Saly Mathew are his parents. He is a trained classical singer who received training from AmbiliKuttan. The Guru was impressed by his singing while he was studying in class 8 and accepted him as his student. Though he is a Malayali he is also an avid Tamil songs fan. He had a habit of learning old and new Tamil songs. During his under graduate course, he won several singing contests at the Mahatma Gandhi University Youth festival. Though his early education was done at Kerala, for higher studies he moved to Chennai.
He was doing his post-graduation in business administration at Satyabhama Deemed University, Chennai when he participated in the first season of Airtel Super Singer reality show. From more than 1 Lakh applicants, 25,000 were selected were short-listed and in the final round there were 5 contestants. S. P. Balasubramaniam opened the envelope and read out his name and Nikhil became a star overnight and also received his first film offer soon. The strong classical backing, cultured voice and controlled singing were regarded as his winning factors.
Cherupunjiri from MaheshintePrathikaaram is his recent Malayalam hit. NilavinteThoovl from Moonnamathoral, Maya Theeram in Angry Babies in Love, "AzhalinteAzhangalil" from AyalumNjanumThammil, HailesaLesa from PullipulikalumAattinkuttiyum and Kaarmukilil from Bachelors Party are his noted Malayalam songs.
