Namrata Mohanty Biography 
Namrata Mohanty is an Odia singer based in Cuttack, Odisha. She has trained in Hindustani classical vocal from musicians like Dhananjay Satapathy, A. Maheswar Rao and Shantanu Das. ‘Janhare Tolide Ghara’ was her first solo album released in year 2009. The album contained Oriya modern songs. Later she released two more albums - 'Chhuti' and 'Ninad' in 2014. Ninad was a Hindi devotional album (bhajan) while Chhuti was for younger generation consisting of youthful songs. She has also rendered her voice for a few Odiya translations of iconic Bengali poems written by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Now she is a B-grade artist in All India Radio since 1983.
Namrata Mohanty was born in Cuttack, Odisha. She received training in Hindustani music from Dhananjay Satapathy, A. Maheswar Rao and Shantanu Das, and has been singing for All India Radio since 1983. Her musical journey started in the 1980s. She is currently based in Cuttack city, with her regular concerts apart from releasing solo albums since 2009. In the past 10 years, she released albums - ‘Janhare Tolide Ghara’, 'Chhuti' and 'Ninad' belonging to different genres and experiments with new styles.
Ninad was her first experience with Hindi bhajans, as she is mostly associated with Hindustani music and different forms of music in her mother tongue, Oriya. It included devotional songs such as Main toh giridhar ke ghar jaun by Meera Bai and Soi rasna jo hari gun gaave by Surdas. Her album 'Chhuti' had some light romantic numbers in this collection such as ‘Bhbahe hele kahi pare na’. She launched a music album featuring 12 popular songs of Bengali poet-lyricist Kazi Nazrul Islam. It was for the first time when Nazrulgeeti has been translated and recorded into any other language in the form of a music album.
