Nalini Singh Biography

Nalini Singh is a TV journalist, author and popular TV news anchor, who gained popularity through the show, "Aankhon Dekhi" in Doordarshan. Though she has anchored several current affairs programs on Doordarshan in the late 1990s and early 2000s, she gained quick attention through the show, 'Aankhon Dekhi', on investigative journalism aired on DD Metro in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Also an author she has authored one book – Women’s quest for power: five Indian case studies published in the year 1980. Noted journalist cum TV news anchor Niharika Acharya started her journalist career under Nalini Singh, for the show, "Aankhon Dekhi" in Doordarshan in 2002. Nalini launched a Nepalese-Hindi Channel in 2003.

 

This senior Indian journalist was born on February 17, 1945. Her father H. D. Shourie was a consumer rights activist. Her brother Arun Shourie is a former parliamentarian and cabinet minister. She is married to S.P.N. Singh. Noted Indian diplomat cum former governor of UP, Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh is her father-in-law. Her daughter Ratna Vira is a noted writer who authored the book – Daughter by Court Order. She has one more son - Sukaran Singh who served as the Vice President of Tata Advanced Systems. Known for humbleness and simplicity, she is a role model for many Indian TV news anchors.

 

Associated with Doordarshan in the 1990s, she has anchored several current affairs programs on Doordarshan. Yet she gained attention through her program - 'Aankhon Dekhi', on investigative journalism. Journalist Nalini Singh is known for exposing many crimes through her investigative shows, particularly 'Aankhon Dekhi'. Her points of view on Indian politics is very detailed and comprises of logical steps to reach a crisp conclusion, which gained her fans across India.
