Mudasir Ali Biography

Mudasir Ali is an Indian composer, and Sufi singer who has composed music for a few independent albums as well as feature films, belonging to Rajasthani and other Indian languages. He hails from Mumbai. He left his job as a cop from Srinagar to come to Mumbai to pursue his dream of music. He sang aside veteran vocalist Shubha Mudgal for the title song of Girish Malik’s Jal, which gave him recognition. As a composer, he has composed songs for the movies - Lucknow Times (2013), Bumper Draw (2015), Four Pillars of Basement (2015) and Taawdo The Sunlight (2017).

 

Mudasir Ali hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was born on 21 November 1987. After studies he worked as a cop in Srinagar, Kashmir. But to pursue his dreams in music, he left his secure job and reached Mumbai. As a music composer he started off in 2013 with the movie, Lucknow Times. He recorded a song with Asha Bhosle. His Indo-Pak album Dil Ki Udaan Sarhad Ke Paar Hai was launched by veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Ali co-composed and rendered the vocals along with Pakistani Qawwal Hamza Akram. His soul-stirring Sufi renditions are a rage in live shows of North right now.

 

Mudasir Ali has rendered the vocals for the title song of Girish Malik’s Jal along with Shubha Mudgal, which gave him a big platform to move on. Jal boasts of soul-stirring compositions by the dup of tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh and Sonu Nigam. The artists heard his voice on the phone and then Sonu Nigam personally met him. That’s how he got selected for the movie, Jal. Ali was also part of Surkshetra, Bharat Ki Shaan and has lent his vocals to famous musicians, Monty Sharma, Rajiv-Mona among others.
