Monika Deol Biography 
Monika Deol is a Canadian television personality and Canadian singer of Indian origin. She was born in Punjab, and later migrated to Marathon, Ontario during her childhood days, where she got settled with her parents. In her professional front, she remained as an actress, VJ, host and producer of TV shows. She also anchored the entertainment show, CityPulse at Six, followed by FAX, RapidFAX, Ooh La La, and many more. She shot to fame and turned a celebrity after hosting and co-producing the show, Electric Circus for MuchMusic. She remained the VJ of the show for long 8 years since 1988. Deol has also acted in a few movies in supporting roles.
Monika Deol was born in Punjab into a Sikh family. Later the family migrated to Canada where they got settled. She came to Canada as a preschooler. Her childhood days were spent in Canada, where she completed her school and college studies. Both her parents were teachers. The family first migrated to Marathon, and later it settled at Beausejour, Manitoba. Monika Deol completed her education in the early 1980s, and later started her career related to music and hosting. She began her music career as a club DJ, and was the lead female singer of the music band ‘Perfect Kiss’ in the 1980s. She is married to Avtar Bains, and the couple has 4 children.
Her name is synonymous to the emergence of South Asian pop culture in Canada. A self-made brand she single-handedly pioneered the change of a cliché perception of an entire immigrant identity through her musical shows. Apart from hosting radio shows, she also acted in a few movies. She appeared in Beeba Boys, directed by Deepa Mehta in the year 2015. Hostage for a Day and Just For Fun are other noted works.
