Mahesh Thakur Biography

Mahesh Thakur is a popular actor associated with Bollywood and Hindi TV soaps since the days of Doordarshan. He also appeared in many TV ads. As a film actor, some of his major roles include - Akaash Vani, Aashique 2, Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United, Sathya 2,FALTU, Jai ho, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye etc. Mahesh played numerous character roles for TV shows too. He currently plays the role of Mr Raichand - Ranbeer's father in the TV soap, Woh Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle since 2016. Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani, Kabhi Aise Geet Gaya Karo, Hudd Kar Di, Shararat, Sparsh, Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai, Sasural Genda Phool, Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi,Sailaab etc are some of his television roles.

He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 1 October 1969. He is married to Sapna Thakur. He has been active in the television industry for more than 25 years, and is also a successful businessman.  Mahesh completed MBA from US. But his passion to acting prompted him to return back to India to pursue a career in films. He came back to Mumbai in 1980. He was associated with theater during his college days. He did a crash course in Roshan Taneja’s acting school also. His acting career began with the film – Jaaneman, which flopped at box office. After that he acted in a series of flops. When he got offers from television, he accepted and he succeeded as a TV character artist. Occasionally he plays good roles on big screen as well.  

Among his film roles, he is best known for playing Saigal Uncle, music record producer in the Bollywood musical blockbuster – Aashique 2starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. Among his television roles, he played noted roles in Doordarshan comedy shows which made him immensely popular. He played a key role in Doordarshan’s comedy sitcom, Tu Tu Main Main. Currently he plays father and uncle type of roles on small and big screen.
