Madhavapeddi Suresh Biography

Madhavapeddi Suresh is a music composer, percussionist and playback singer who predominantly worked for Tollywood. He was awarded Nandi Award for Best Music Director in 1996. Associated with cinema since 1970s as a percussionist, he worked with almost all leading composers of Telugu cinema, and has been a part of many iconic songs of Telugu screen, apart from a few Bollywood songs. Started his independent music journey in the late 1980s, he gave some memorable songs in the 1990s. He marked the debut with Hai Hai Nayaka (1989), and has given music for Bhairava Dweepam, Madam, Brundavanam, Maato Pettukoku, Maya Bazaar, Ramayanam, Tata Manavadu, Kutumba Gouravam etc. He is a recipient of Saluri Pratibha Puraskaram in 2013.

 

Suresh was born on 8 September 1951 in Tenali, Andra Pradesh. His parents are Nageshwara Rao and Vasundhara and both his parents are trained artists. His brother also had a career for playback singer. He started his journey as a harmonium player at the age of 16 for the program Sri Ramanavami at Vijayawada in 1967. Since then he has done a lot of performances in similar shows. He has worked for 1,000 films with some of the leading music directors of film industry before marking his independent career journey. He has worked with south Indian music composers like S. Rajeswara Rao, M. S. Viswanathan, K. V. Mahadevan, Pasupuleti Ramesh Naidu, and Bollywood music directors like Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri and Hamsalekha to name a few. He also worked as a keyboard player and also played accordion.

 

He has worked with all the music directors of the golden era of Telugu cinema except for Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. He played accordion for music director T. Chalapathi Rao for the film Parivartana (1974. He is a close relative of Madhavapeddi Satyam. After working in the industry as a percussionist for a long time, Suresh began his career as music director with Jandhyala’s film Hai Hai Nayaka which was released in 1989. He also owns several non-film and TV programmes to his credit.
