Kamala Bose Biography 
Kamala Bose is a renowned classical vocalist who performs Hindustani music. She was based in Allahabad and lived during the period, 1947–2012. She was an "A" grade artist of classical vocal music in All India Radio and she started her association with the radio station in 1970. Later she was appointed as a panellist in the Audition Board by The Director General, A.I.R, New Delhi. She has also delivered lectures on classic music at different universities of India. She has been associated with radio shows - "Sangeet Shiksha", a special feature of 26 episodes and the Gyan Vani Program on the FM Channel.
Kamala Bose was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 26 November 1947. Her family owns a rich musical tradition and its family members are patrons of arts as well. She received early training in Hindustani music since the age of 5, from her father J. D. Mazumdar, a reputed violinist and music composer. He also introduced her to AIR. In fact her music talents were identified by her father, who noticed her humming to musical bits. Since late 1960s she continued her music training under Pt. Ramashray Jha of the Bhatt Gharana. She was married to Bichitra Mohan Bose and they had three children.
She took Master’s in Music from University of Allahabad and specialized in classical vocal or the khayal form. She also performed light music forms on concerts such as Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Hori, Kajari etc, along with Hindustani music. Her active professional career began in 1970, commencing in radio, and since then she has been regular in live performances as well. She also taught music at universities. Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai honored her with the coveted title "Sur Mani". She was a recipient of many more honours in the field of singing.
