Kalpana Raghavendar Biography 
Kalpana Raghavendar is an Indian playback singer associated with south Indian films. She is the daughter of T. S. Raghavendra, singer and actor. In 2010 she shot to fame after winning Star Singer season 5, the top singing reality show on Malayalam television. She also participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1. She is also an actress and song writer, and known to be a successful stage artist who has performed in more than 3,000 shows in India and abroad till now. As a playback singer, she started her career in her childhood at the age of 5. She has recorded more around 2000 songs belonging to different genres, including film songs.
Kalpana Raghavendar was born in Chennai on 8 May 1977. Born as the daughter of famous playback singer and actor T. S. Raghavendra, Kalpana was initiated to the world of music at a very young age. Her mother, Sulochana, is also a singer. Her younger sister, Shekinah Shawn is an opera singer. Kalpana took formal lessons in Carnatic music from Madurai T. Srinivasan. She started her singing career at the age of 5, and gave equal importance to her studies as well. She completed Master of Computer Applications degree and is currently pursuing Master of Philosophy.
She recorded her first song, a song composed by Saluri Vasurao and she sang aside veteran singers, P. Susheela, Mano and M. M. Srilekha. As a full-fledged playback singer, she marked her debut in 1999, and now spent almost 2 decades in the industry. Mangalagouriki from the Telugu film Manoharam was her first recorded song. Apart from playback singing, she is quite active as a live performer on stage.
