K. Omanakutty Biography 
K. Omanakutty Amma, shortly called K. Omanakutty is a leading Carnatic vocalist from Kerala. She is also an academician, music teacher and writer too who publishes her research works on music and other forms of art. She has taken a doctorate on the basis of the research works she conducted in Kathakali. She inherited music talents from senior members of his family. She belongs to a family with strong musical family, with several well-established artists in cine field. Famous Malayalam music director M. G. Radha Krishnan and popular playback singer M. G. Sreekumar are her siblings. Upcoming playback singer K. S. Harisankar is her grandson.
K. Omanakutty hails from Haripad of Alappuzha district, Kerala. She was born in the year 1943. Born into a musical family, MG Radhakrishnan is her elder brother, while M. G. Sreekumar, her younger brother. Like her brothers, Omanakutty also took formal training in Carnatic music at a very young age. The siblings also took music as their profession, and tasted success in the branch they chose. She completed Gana Praveena course in Music from Thiruvananthapuram, because of her interest in music. She took great efforts in bring the musical compositions of Swati Thirunal to limelight. She has also trained numerous students over the years. Renowned singer K. S. Chithra was her disciple. Playback singers like B. Arundhathi and Manjari have also taken musical lessons from her.
She is the founder Chairman and Secretary of Sangeeta Bharati, a music institution for research found in 2003. She currently works as faculty at Music Therapy Department of the Pankaja Kasthuri Ayurvedic Medical College, Kattakada of Thiruvananthapuram district. She has earlier worked as music teacher of Government College for Women, before her retirement.
