Jaya Ojha Biography

Jaya Ojha is an actress of Nepali origin, who works in Indian soaps. A multifaceted personality, she is known as a stage and television actress, lyricist, and screenwriter. Mandodari in the 2000s epic TV series Ramayan is her most memorable role up-to-date followed by the sitcom Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain. Currently she is seen in the popular soap - Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on channel Star Plus. She is associated since the days of Doordarshan in the late 1980s and has appeared in Indradhanush (1989), The Sword of Tipu Sultan (1990-91) and The Great Maratha (1993), before she took a break from the industry.

She belongs to Nuwakot, Nepal. She graduated from Jaipur. It was during her college day she got interested in acting and music. So she took Masters in Hindustani vocal music and was active in Jaipur Theatre. During her PG days, she worked in a few Doordarshan serials. Indradhanush (1989) marked her acting debut. She penned lyrics and released one music album too, in the early 1990s and had a brief association with Nepali cinema. She played lead role in a couple of Nepali films - Bhaimara Paribanda and Nepal Aama, after she moved to Nepal after the completion of her PG course. Then she got married and settled with her family life for more than a decade.

She made a comeback in 2005 and joined a theater group called Yatri. She did several stage shows and very soon, she returned to Indian television. She appeared in the series, Sai baba, followed by Lucky and Kumkum. She also appeared in one story of CID. In 2008 she received two meaty roles – Parallel lead in Ramayana and Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain – her first lead role which established her as an actress. Sasural Simar Ka, Main Kab Saas Banoongi, Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava? and most recently Saath Nibhaana Saathiya are her TV roles.
