Inno Genga Biography

Inno Genga is a British singer who does playback singing for Indian Tamil movies. He got initially noticed through numerous cover versions he sang and uploaded on YouTube, and his videos became instant hit. It helped him to bag a few offers from Tamil cinema, and he has worked with popular composers like Anirudh Ravichander, D. Imman and Leon James. He sang for movies like Remo (2016), Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017) and Gulaebaghavali (2018). Most recently he rendered his voice for Rajinikanth starrer Petta in 2018 and the song was "Ullaalla".

 

His full name is Innogen Gengatharan and he uses the stage name, Inno Genga. He was born to Tamil parents, Rajagopal and Chandrika Gengatharan on 8 November 1993 in Britain. His younger days were spent in Britain where he completed his studies. He graduated in Mathematics from University of Southampton, and while he was studying there, he was quite popular as a singer among the students and earned a name and identity of his own. He regularly appeared in shows arranged by the London Tamil diaspora at that time. He also started making YouTube covers of RnB and Tamil songs under the stagename of Inno Genga, which caught the attention of Tamil music composers.

 

He marked his playback debut in Tamil films in the year 2015 with the film, Ko 2. His voice was used to record the song, "Kannamma" by Leon James who gave him the first break to playback singer. Chinmayi was his co-singer. "Come Closer" for Remo, "En Pulse Yethitu Poriye" for Kavalai Vendam, "Oru Veettil" of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondra and "Senthooran" of Bogo are some of his popular songs. Currently he is settled in Chennai to pursue a career in Tamil cinema.
