H-Dhami Biography

Hartinder Dhami, better known as H-Dhami is a UK-based Indian Punjabi singer, specialized in Bhangra. He has given many Bhangra hits like “Mitran Di Jaan” “Lute Gaai” and “Har Gabroo”. He released his solo album, Sadke Java in 2008. Prior to it he had released Sadke Java in 2007 as a single which became popular. His other popular singles include - "Mitran Di Jaan" (2008), "Har Gabroo" (2008) and "Tenu Nachdi Vekna" (2012). Dhami is a recipient of many musical awards. He won "Best Newcomer" award at the 2008 UK Asian Music Awards. His breakthrough track, "Sadke Java" bagged him Best Video of Year award by Zee TV. He also won "Best Male Act" at the 2009 UK Asian Music Awards.

 

One of the hottest artists of Punjabi music scene, he gained attention in a short time. Many of his singles are already chartbusters. He was born on June 1, 1982 into a traditional Sikh Punjabi family settled in Belfast, UK. His father was the lead singer of the successful 80’s Bhangra group - Heera Group UK. Thus since younger days he was inspired a lot by his singing father. He was encouraged to join the stage by his father at the tender age of 6. He grew up in Hounslow, in the outskirts of London.

 

He started performing with U.K Mela circuit and once shared stage with King Khan of Bollywood. In 2007 he was signed up by Rischi Rich on his own label. It was his career breakthrough. His first single - Sadke Java was released the same year in summer. Following its success, he released his solo album with the same title in 2008. The album included 13 tracks and also featured some top Bhangra artists including Roach Killa and Chaaya. Toped Asian Music charts, the album also won him Best Newcomer Award at the U.K Asian Music Awards. There was no turning back after that.
