Embar Kannan Biography 
Embar Kannan is a young violinist and musician from Tamil Nadu, born into a family of illustrious musicians. He is a Grade 'A top' artist of the All India Radio and performs solo concerts as well as an accompanist for Carnatic concerts. He is also trained in western classical music and one of the youngest successful violinists at present. He is also associated with film industry and has worked with music maestro Ilaiyaraja for movies as well as stage performances. He has also been associated with Tamil film music composers like A. R. Rahman, apart from Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vidyasagar, Sharath and Deva. Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar and ‘Best Violinist Award’ from the Madras Music Academy for eight consecutive years are the major milestones of his career.
He was born on February 19, 1975 into the musical family of Embar Sadagopan. He started formal learning of violin at the age of six, apart from Carnatic music from gurus Sri Subbanna Bhagavathar and Sri Vittal Ramamurthy. He is a recipient of several scholarships and rewards since younger days. At the age of 11, with the help of a scholarship given by Tamil Nadu government vhe got the privilege to learn from A. Kanyakumari.
Kannan is one of the founding members of the acclaimed HeartBeat ensemble, which performs live since 1999. He also contributes as a composer for this group. He is an integral member of Ilayaraja’s orchestra since 1991 and music maestro’s personal favourite. He has also been associated with re-recording of songs for movies, one of the most challenging experiences. Known as a music composer, he has also composed music for a few television serials, apart from devotional albums like Nammazhwar Paasurams, Nandanaar Charitram etc.
