Dinesh Kanagaratnam Biography

Dinesh Kanagaratnam is a Sri Lankan R&B and Hip Hop artist and writer, who has worked with Rahman for many Indian projects. In 2015 he rendered his voice for the popular song - "Kaara Attakkaaraa" for Tamil film, O k Kanmani composed by Rahman. The song was penned by Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, A. R. Rahman and the director Mani Ratnam himself. Dinesh started his singing career in the year 2005 and has spent one decade in the music field. A single - Naan Sonnal with Bathiya and Santhush marked his singing debut in the year 2005.

 

Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam also known as ADK was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the year 1980. He was introduced to the music through a single by Bathiya and Santhush in the year 2005. Two years later he released his first album - Cross Culture with Gajan Maheson. The song - “Cross Culture” went viral over net and Dinesh became an established singer through his debut album. Later he released his first solo album - Thamila, which was highly appreciated by music critics. The track – Surangani was an instant chartbuster and well praised by critics also. It was followed by two more independent albums - SL2SG in 2010 and Aaryan in 2012.

 

His successful music career in Sri Lanka caught attention of Rahman, known for promoting budding talents and distinct voices.  ADK rendered his voice for two Mani Ratnam films composed by Rahman -“Magudi” from the movie Kadal and "Kaara Attakkaaraa" for O k Kanmani. He also sang the song "Oh Nanba" for the movie, Linga composed by Rahman. Prior to his association with Rahman he has worked with music composer Vijay Antony for two movies – Vettaikaran ("Oru Chinna Thamarai") and TN-07 AL 4777 ("Aathichudi") both released in 2009.
