Dev Kohli Biography 
Dev Kohli is a famous lyricist of Bollywood. He writes poems as well. As a lyricist his best known works are Maine pyar kiya, Hum aapke hain koun, Baazigar and ‘Geet gaata hoon mien’ song of Lal Pathar. He has an association with Rajshree productions with whom he has delivered music for Maine pyar kiya, Hum saat saat hain and Hum aapke hain koun. He has been nominated for best lyricist in Filmfare for the songs – Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate of Meine pyar kiya, Yeh kaali kaali aankhein of Baazigar and Hum Aapke Hain Koun title track sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Bala Subramaniyan. Geet gaata hoon mein of Lal Pathar pictured on Vinod Mehra is one among the earliest hits of Dev Kohli. The movie was released in the year 1971. It took almost 2 decades for him to get popularity and it happened with Meine pyar kiya in 1989. All the songs were big hits and Dev Kohli shared the space along with lyricist Asad Bhopali.
Dev Kohli hails from Rawalpindi and from his childhood he had the passion of writing short poems. Yet he used to hide it from everybody as he thought they are not worth sharing. Once Mr. Shaukat happened to read his poems and advised him to move forward in this direction. His appreciation and guidance prompted Dev Kohli to give importance to his writing skills and eventually became a great poet too. After his first break, the top song of Lal pathar, he had to wait long to get good opportunities. He never marketed himself to get opportunities in Bollywood. Yet he reached a position among the top lyricists of Bollywood winning many acclamations.
Among all his movies – Hum aapke hain kaun and Baazigar need special mention. Hum aapke hain kaun is most remembered for its number of songs and family entertainer as whole. This movie contained 14 songs and movie was a bit lengthy too. He wrote lyrics along with Ravinder Rawal for this movie. His songs are Hum Aapke Hain Koun title track, Mujhse Juda Hokar, Maye Ni Maye, Pehla pehla pyar, Chocolate Lime Juice and Didi Tera Devar Deewana. He has also written the lyrics of Sonu Nigam’s album Kismat and Jhanjaar. His other movies include Pathar ke phool, Sabse bada khiladi, Khiladiyon ka khiladi and Beti. No. 1.
