Deshapati Srinivas Biography 
Deshapati Srinivas is a folk singer and lyricist from the state of Telangana. He is also an activist. One of the key leaders of Telangana Separation Movement, he also wrote numerous songs to trigger the move. After the formation of new state of Telangana, he is involved with Telugu language promotion within the state. He has also penned lyrics for Telugu movies, and some of his songs have been adapted to films as well. His rendition for the song, Nageti sallala na Telangana, penned by Nandini Sidda Reddy is popular.
Deshapati Srinivas was born in 1967 in Siddipet, Telangana. Currently he resides in Hyderabad. Gopalakrisha and Bala Saraswati are his parents. Srinavas drew inspiration from his father who used to write poems in Telugu and Urdu. After completing graduation, Srinivas took the job of a school teacher. He currently serves as Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister, Telangana government. While he was a school teacher he was fully involved in Telangana Separation Movement and used to participate in rallies conducted for the same. He also appeared in all major public meetings, and used to sing songs. He also appeared in talk shows and debates on television, related to Telangana movement.
Associated with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) political party, he has penned songs for several audio campaigns for the party. He is also known for promoting Telugu across the state of Telangana, and supports the government in this matter. Now Telangana has made Telugu compulsory in all schools. He was also involved with World Telugu Conference with efforts to bring progress of Telugu language within the state. Some short films were also screened as a part of the festival.
