Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar Biography

Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar is a lyricist who works in Telugu cinema. Associated with more than 125 films, he has penned lyrics for more than 390 songs. He frequently associated with film director Puri Jagannadh and music directors Chakri and S. S. Thaman for majority of works in Telugu cinema. He won Santosham film awards for his song in Bommarillu in 2006 and Neninthe in 2008. The song Sir Osthara in Businessman earned him SIIMA awards in 2013. He started his career as a lyricist in 2000 with the film Goppinti Alludu, and has completed 18 years successfully in the industry.

 

Ravi Kumar was born on June 5, 1974 in Srikakulam. He was brought up in a big family of 6 kids. His childhood days were spent in Rajahmundry. He is married to Lalitha and has two children. His maternal grandfather Aravelli Rajagopalacharya played a magnificent role in grooming literal interest in Ravi Kumar during his childhood days. He was drawn towards film posters too, since young. After graduating in Telugu literature, he worked as a film journalist in Eenadu, Hyderabad for 10 years. He left the job to pursue a career in films.

 

Goppinti Alludu released in the year 2000 marked his debut in film industry as a lyricist. Very soon he turned one of the most prolific lyricists in contemporary Telugu cinema and over the past decade, he has written numerous super hit tracks for almost all the top stars. For the 50 films composed by Taman, he wrote songs for almost 30 films. They share a great professional relationship too. He has created a repertoire for himself in churning fast-numbers in his long stint in Telugu cinema. Bhai, Iddarammayiltho, Naayak, Businessman and Dookudu are among his noted works.
