Benny Dayal Biography

Benny Dayal is a popular playback singer from India who came to limelight with the song – ‘Pappu can’t dance’ of Jaana tu ya jaane naa. He is a member of the band S5 launched by the channel SS Music – A music channel for South Indian music. Born in Kerala, he is one of the most popular choices of film directors both from South India as well as Bollywood. He is the most popular choice of A. R. Rahman and Harris Jayraj. His Bollywood chartbuster hits of Benny include - "Kaise mujhe tum mil gaye" of Gajani, "Tu Meri Dost Hai" of Yuvraj, "Tarkeebein"  and "Dum Dum Mast Hai"  of Band baaja barat, "Lat Lag Gayi"  of Race 2, “Badtameez Dil" of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, "Choomantar"  of Mere brother ki dulhan, "Aadat Se Majboor"  of Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Title track of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Daaru desi of Cocktail, “Vacancy” of Golmaal Returns, "You and Me" of Pyar impossible and Title track of Badmaash Company and Shuddh Desi Romance. He has won RD Burman Award for New Music Talent at 54th Filmfare Awards for the melodious heart touching song – Kaise mujhe tum mil gaya of Ghajani. Benny Dayal's parents hail from Kollam, Kerala. Benny was born and brought up in Abu Dhabi. He did his schooling in Abu Dhabi and completed B.Com from Madras Christian College. He took diploma in journalism and has worked as Events Coordinator with RR Donnelley. He quit his work in BPO to fully concentrate in music. He has also released a few private albums – Isai, Swaasam, Ithu Premamo, Saaral and Kavithai Gundar. Apart from Hindi, he has done playback singing for all south Indian languages. In 2009 Stardust Awards he won Max Stardust Awards for New Musical Sensation (Pappu can't dance/Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na).


Among his Malayalam songs, he is popular for dance numbers like - "Thillana Thillana" of Teja bhai and Family, "Mangalangal" of Karyasthan and "Aaramam Nirangal" of Seniors. "Mangalangal" song was a history as it included 50 television artists in a single song in the 100th movie of Dileep. His popular Tamil songs are - "Poongatre Poongatre" of Payya, "Omana Penne" of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, "Naane Indhiran" of Singham, "Balleilakka” of Sivaji, "Thikku Thikku" of Dhaam dhoom, "Theneeril Snegitham" of Subramaniyapuram, "Chinnamma Chilakkamma" of Chakkarakatti, "Neeyum Naanum" of Maina, "Yella Oorum" of Kumki, "Damakku Damakku" of Aadavan, "Thuppaki Engal Tholile" of Viswaroopam and "Adiye Kolludhae", "Yethi Yethi" of Vaaranam Aayiram.
