Basabdatta Chatterjee Biography 
Basabdatta Chatterjee is a Bengali actress who primarily works on Bengali television. Made debut with Rituparno Ghosh’s Gaaner Oparey, the actress has created a niche of her own in the Bengali television scene. She shot to fame after the comedy series, Boyei Gelo aired on Zee Bangla. Before that she has appeared in the series - Ek Mutho Asha, Ami Sei Meye, Amar Naam Joyita and Ashar Alo. In 2014, she was seen in Durga Durgotinashini, where she played the female lead Sati. Mon Niye Kachakachi (2015) was her last television series aired on Star Jalsha for 9 months since January. She portrayed the title role of Dr. Labanya Sanyal in the series directed by Abira Majumdar. She is equally popular in Bengal and Bangladesh.
Basabdatta was born in Kolkata in West Bengal in 1989 to a film critic Sumantra Chatterjee. She holds a Master’s degree in Bengali from Rabindra Bharati University. Though her father reviews films, she had no intensions to enter the same stream. She wanted to become a reporter. She is a great listener of music. However Rituparno Ghosh’s Gaaner Oparey happened to her and with its success, she took acting as her profession. Since 2010 she is active in the television industry. She has also appeared in a few TV ads. She participated in television game show Dadagiri Unlimited on Zee Bangla and Ebar Jalsha Rannaghore on Star Jalsha.
In 2014 she made her film debut through Asha Jaoar Majhe, where she had no dialogues. The movie told the relationship of a newlywed couple who stays whole day apart except a few moments. Lead role was played by Ritwick Chakraborty and she appeared as a simple girl next door. Directed by Aditya Vikram Sengupta, the movie received numerous awards including two national awards apart from critics’ appreciation. To play a character without any dialogue was quite challenging. But the talented actress did it with ease.
