Babbal Rai Biography 
Babbal Rai is a Punjabi singer from Ludhiana. He is associated with independent music. He is also a songwriter and film actor. His real name is Simranjeet Singh Rai, and Babbal Rai is his professional name. As a singer he rose to fame with the song Nikki Jehi Jind. Singh vs Kaur, Mr & Mrs 420, Oh My Pyo Ji, Sargi, Ambran Da Chann and Dildariyaan are some of his screen appearances in Punjabi cinema. He has released more than a dozen of singles since 2012. He also released three albums since 2010 - Saau Putt [The First Chapter] (2010), Girlfriend (2014) and Professional Sardar (2017).
Simranjeet Singh Rai was born in Samrala, a city in the Ludhiana district of Punjab, on 3 March 1985. His father Sardar Manjit Singh Rai was a theatre artist and his mother Sardarni Nirmal Kaur is a homemaker. His younger days were spent in his hometown where he completed his schooling. Later he moved to Chandigarh, where he completed his graduation. In 2007, he went to Melbourne and studied Community welfare. He also took part time jobs during his stay in Australia.
He joined music scene with the album, Saau Putt in 2010, and in the past one decade, he released several hit singles. His debut album was only average as he couldn’t come to India to promote it. He released it while he was in Australia. Singh vs Kaur in 2013 was his first movie appearance, where he played a cameo role. After that he started accepting full-length roles. Mr and Mrs 420 in 2014 was his first full length film role in Punjabi cinema. It was a dual cameo role, first one of this kind in Punjabi cinema.
