Anna Katharina Valayil Biography 
Anna Katharina Valayil is a popular playback singer of Malayalam film industry known for her distinct voice and fast numbers. Made her singing debut in 2012, she became an overnight sensation after rendering her voice for the songs - Appangal Embadum and Mel Mel Mel of 2012 movie - Ustad Hotel, released the same year. Mel Mel Mel was a soft track while the peppy dance number Appangal Embadum became an instant chartbuster, though she earned critics’ negative remarks for her singing and pronunciation. Same year she made her debut to Tamil playback singing through the movie - Yaaruda Mahesh. Most recently she sang - I Want to Fly, for the Tamil movie, Bangalore Naatkal, and sang it for the first time in the original Malayalam version – Bangalore Days too.
Anna Katharina Valayil is a native of Kottayam. She was born to Valayil Joseph Varghese and Mini Varghese in the year 1984. Her childhood was spent in Nigeria as her father worked there. Later her father resigned his job and the family shifted to Kochi, Kerala. She continued her schooling at Trippunithura and graduated from St. Theresa's College, Kochi. She later moved to Australia to do her pilot training course and also completed PG in Media Studies during this time. She got married at the age of 28 to an hotelier and settled in Kottayam. The couple has two children.
She started learning guitar while studying at 6th grade at the Choice School, Tripunithara. She made her debut to playback singing in 2012, just one year before her marriage with Ranjesh. She sang a string of songs for the movies – Casanovva, Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Masters, Hero, Mallu Singh and Ustad Hotel. She also made her Tamil debut the same year with the songs - Oodum Unakkidhu, Vayadhai Keduthu and Yaaruda Andha Mahesh for the movie, Yaaruda Mahesh. However it was her catchy number - Appangal Embadum for Ustad Hotel which grabbed everyone’s attention.
