Anitha Shaiq Biography 
Anitha Shaiq is an Indian singer associated with independent music as well as film songs. She is currently based in Mumbai, and performs in different genres of music such as classical, Sufi, Ghazal, folk and pop music. She has been associated with playback singing for the past one decade and has till now has recorded more than a hundred film songs. She sings all the south Indian languages, apart from Oriya and Punjabi. She has also composed one song, "Melake Ponnal" for the film Crossroad directed by Lenin Rajendran. "Satrangee" is her musical album released under the banner East Coast, and she composed all its 7 tracks – some of the great Urdu poems written by legends like Mirza Ghalib, Bulleh Shah, Amir Khusrow, Meera etc.
Anitha Shaiq is simply called Anitha, and her name is often credited as Anitha S. She was born in Thiruvananthapuram to Sheikh Ebrahim and Sirajuniza Begum. She inherited music traits from her mother who works as a music teacher in a school. She graduated in Music from the Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, and she has learnt different genres of music such as ghazals, Sufi, Hindustani etc.
She got her first break to Malayalam films as a playback singer through 2007 film, Rock ‘n Roll composed by ace composer Vidyasagar. She was one among the singers whose voice was recorded for the fast peppy number, O mama featuring Rai Lakshmi. Since then she has been regular in Malayalam film industry for the past one decade, and also recorded songs in many Indian languages. Ekanda chandrike in 2 Harihar Nagar, Title track of Minnaminnikkoottam, Sarigamapa of Twenty Twenty, Ola ola and Miya miya in In ghost house inn etc are some of her film songs in Malayalam. She is also regular with her live concerts in India, UAE and other parts of the world.
