Amar Haldipur Biography

Amar Haldipur is a noted music director, music arranger and composer of Indian music industry, and a noted violinist. He gave maximum compositions to Punjabi cinema, apart from a few projects in Bollywood. As a music composer he is best known for the work of Punjab movies, Shaheed-E-Mohabbat Boota Singh (1999) and Channa Sachi Muchi. He also worked as a music arranger and violinist in the film industry, for song recordings as well as live concerts. He has worked as an arranger with Laxmikant Pyarelal, Khayyam, Rajesh Roshan, Shanker Jaikishan, Usha Khanna, Anu Malik, Nadeem Shravan, Madan Mohan, Hridaynath Mageskar, Nusarat Fateh Ali khan etc since 1960s, thus working with two generation of composers.

 

His sons Siddharth Haldipur and Sangeet Haldipur are also into the world of music and compositions, and following father’s footsteps, they are into music composition field in Bollywood. Sangeet Haldipur and Siddharth Haldipur together form the composer duo of Bollywood - Sangeet-Siddharth who tasted success through the songs of Murder 2, Blood Money, Nasha, Raaz Rebooted etc. They are playback singers too. His son Siddharth was one among the members of the famous ‘A Band of Boys’, the first Indian version of boy bands who rose to prominence in 2002.

 

Amar Haldipur has worked as a music arranger in Bollywood film industry, and continued with many leading music composers of 1990s also. “Raja Babu”, “Hulchul”, “Chahat”, “Keemat” and “Ghulam” are some of the movies in the 1990s, for which Amar worked in music and orchestra section. He has also worked in a few movies of late 1980s. When Lata Mangeshkar performed at Albert Hall in London, he wrote and arranged music with the English Wren Orchestra for her historic performance.

 

As an arranger, he has done about 6000 songs, which include ghazal works of Pankaj Udhas too. He played violin for Mohammed Rafi’s famous song, Dard-E-Dil for the movie, Karz. Folk, Pop and Bhangra his favourite genres in Indian music, with which he associates most. He belongs to that rare group of artists in music industry, who owns a music studio in Adarsh Nagar.
