Ali Merchant Biography

Ali Merchant is a noted television actor popular with the roles he played in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Amber Dhara and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He was formerly married to noted television actress Sara Khan, though it ended with a bitter knot. They both appeared as contestant in the celebrity show Bigg Boss Season 4 in 2010, hiding the fact that both were already married in 2009. The couple got married once again during Bigg Boss show, and it resulted in the increase of TRP ratings as well. However the relationship didn’t last too long and currently he is linked with Jinita Sheth, a fashion photographer and editor by profession. Ali has also appeared in the controversial show – Sach ka samna, wherein he spoke about his estranged wife Sara Khan.

He was born in Mumbai in 1984 and started his modelling career at a young age. He won the Mr. Bombay title at the age of only 17 and very soon he landed into the world of television and became a part of many popular shows like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Amber Dhara and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai, and Amber Dhara are his earliest shows which earned him quick recognition. Currently he plays the role of Rituraj in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

Latest bust is that Ali Merchant to open a food joint- ‘Hot and Cool!’ (with a short form of H and C) at Mumbai shortly. The actor states that he doesn’t want to rely on one particular thing and wants to utilize the time in the best way. Ali plans to open three branches of the food joint initially, at Khandivili, Juhu and Bandra.
