Aarti Nayak Biography 
Aarti Nayak is a versatile Hindustani vocalist, who follows Gwalior gharana of music. She performs in Hindustani Classical (Raag Sangeet Khayal), Natyageeta, Bhajan, Thumri, Tappa etc. She is a performer since 1993 and owns more than 25 years of experience in this field. She has performed in many cultural events held at Nehru Centre Mumbai, Soorya Festival Thiruvananthapuram, Sangeet Nritya Academy Sammelan in Bangalore, Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Samaroha in Hyderabad, Youth Festival by Sangeet Natak Academy, Temple Music Festival in Bangalore, Kashi sangeet samaj in Varanasi, Shani Jayanti Music Festival in Indore etc.
Aarti Nayak hails from a musical family, traditionally linked with Hindustani music. Many of its artists are performers. From father’s side most of them are associated with music, while from mother’s side, she has many performing artists. Her father Pandit Ramrao Nayak was a well-known vocalist of the Kirana-Gwalior Gharana. Her paternal grandmother Mukta Nayak was a devotional singer. Her maternal grandfather Hanumanth Kamath was a theatre actor. She was initiated to Hindustani music at the age of 4 by her mother, Pratima Nayak who is also trained in Hindustani music. After two years she started taking direct lessons from her father.
Her singing talent was spotted by her father at a young age, and he started nourishing and promoting her singing talent.Pandit A. K. Abhyankar of Kirana Gharana was another person who noticed her talents. At the age of 9, she began playing Tabla and Harmonium with no training. Later she learnt Sitar and Bharatnatyam. However she later concentrated on to Hindustani vocals most. She also completed Sangeet Alankar and Sangeet Visharad from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai with a rank.
