Salil Acharya Biography

Salil Acharya is an Indian actor who works in Bollywood and Hindi television serials. He made his film debut in Mohit Suri's critically acclaimed movie, Awarapan in 2007 which starred Emraan Hashmi and Shriya Saran in lead roles. He played the role of Ronnie Malik, son of protagonist Ashutosh Rana in this movie. For this role he got a nomination at Stardust awards for Best Male Debut Award. Most recently in 2013, he became a part of the musical blockbuster, Aashique 2. He was seen in the chartbuster song, Sun Raha hai, where he unexpectedly interrupts the lead actor’s performance on stage. He has been a regular actor on television during 2000’s and currently is a voice-over artist for Radio City 91.1. He is a video jockey too, who has hosted many television shows.

He was earlier part of many successful Balaji Telefilms’ shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kasturi and Kkavyanjali. He played parallel lead in Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai. In 2008 he hosted the show, Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket. But he took a break from television industry in those days and concentrated on FM Radio. When recession hit worldwide in 2008, he was not at all excited at the type of roles offered to him.

While TV took a backseat, it was the rain season of radio stations and he too became a part of it. His breakfast show Kasa Kai Mumbai on Radio City 91.1 became very popular. In 2013 he returned to small screen through a story, Charulatha of ‘Yeh Hai Aashiqui’ after a long break of 6 years. He made a cameo appearance in Aashique 2 as well.
