Charu Sharma Biography

Charu Sharma is a media personality, an Indian commentator, compere and quizmaster. He was the CEO of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which participated in IPL and other T20 matches. Though he resigned from the post, it was rumoured that he was sacked by United Breweries Limited on behalf of Vijay Mallya, because of the bad performance of the team in IPL. He now served as the director of the famous pro kabaddi league. Charu Sharma is a very familiar face to Indian audiences as a cricket commentator of live cricket matches shown on television, and his screen chemistry with Mandira Bedy for commentaries has been an instant hit.

He was born into a family of intellectuals. His father N.C. Sharma was an educationalist who served as vice-principal of Mayo College, Ajmer. He was into the field of sports before he turned a sports commentator. He played first division cricket league in Kolkata and was a national level bronze medallist in spring-board diving. Sharma has over 20 years of rich and varied expertise in fields of sports casting with broadcasters such as Sony MAX, ESPN, Star Sports and Doordarshan. He has also dabbled in quiz shows, and has also been a voice-over professional.

Charu Sharma is country’s one of the leading and popular TV commentators, comperes and quizmasters, with more than two decades in this field. He gained recognition as a sports commentator. He is one of the foremost established and successful TV hosts, belonging to this genre, and also created new benchmarks for his juniors to follow. Apart from sports, he is also known as a quizmaster in television programmes and other events. He also hosts TV shows and live programs and very famous for his compering skills.
