Nikki Bedi Biography

Nikki Bedi is a British television and radio presenter born in England to Indian father of Maharashtrian origin and an English mother. Her real name is Nikki Moolgaoker and was earlier married to Bollywood celebrity, Kabir Bedi. They got married in the year 1992 and got separated in 2005. Yet she retained her married name after an amicable divorce. She is proud of both her Indian and English roots and describes herself as Anglo-Indian. She is a very popular figure of BBC and appears in the shows, BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends and BBC London 94.9. She is a regular interviewer on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends. She is also known as a television and stage actress.

Nikki began her career in Mumbai, when she was working with a few finest Indian directors. It was during this time when she was spotted by the UK’s Channel 4. Nikki hosted Bombay Chat, an on-location celebrity talk show. She successfully hosted Nikki Tonight at primetime on Star TV which was widely viewed worldwide and a bit controversial too. In one of its episodes, gay rights activist Ashok Row Kavi made bad remarks against Mahatma Gandhi which drew attention from nationwide as well as open criticism for the channel being irresponsible. The channel had to withdraw the program and both Nikki and Kavi made public apology as well.

Then she moved to Los Angelos and returned to Star once again in 2000. She also presented "Worldwide Screen" and "Bollywood Today" for NOW. In the year 2004, she pursued a career in radio starting with LBC and BBC Radio 4. In 2004, she presented Hot Breakfast on the BBC Asian Network. In 2006, she presented her own show called Nikki Bedi on the BBC Asian Network. Now she is a successful voice over artist too.
