Kabir Khan Biography

Kabir Khan is a film director, screenwriter and cinematographer of documentary and Bollywood films. He is known for his Bollywood blockbuster action thriller - Ek Tha Tiger, with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. This movie is one of the greatest blockbusters all time of Indian cinema. Apart from Ek tha tiger, he has also directed the movie, New York with John Abraham and Katrina Kaif playing the lead. Khan is married to TV host Mini Mathur of Indian Idol fame and has two children.

Kabir was born in 1971. He graduated from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. He started his career as a cinematographer for the documentary film, Beyond the Himalayas (1995). This documentary film was telecasted on Discovery channel in 1995. Khan made his directorial debut with the documentary, ‘The Forgotten Army’ in the year 1999. This documentary film was based on Subhas Chandra Bose's Indian National Army. He has also produced two more documentary films before entering Bollywood - The Taliban Years and Beyond, and The Titanic Sinks in Kabul (2001).

As a film director, his first venture was Kabul Express released in the year 2006. He wrote its screenplay as well. Film produced under Yash Raj Films banner, the movie was not successful at box office. The movie starred John Abhraham, Linda Arsenio and Arshad Warsi in lead roles. The story revolved around two journalists who worked on a report of Afghanistan after US Invasion of the country in September 2001. His second project was again based on another real incident, New York. It’s a fiction story that tells the story of three students studying at New York State University whose lives are changed by 9/11 and its aftermath. This movie is regarded as the best performance of Katrina up to date. He created history once again with the same heroine with the blockbuster of 2012 – Ek tha tiger. His upcoming project, Krazy city, too has Katrina playing the lead lady role aside Saif Ali Khan.
