Katrina Kaif is one of the very popular Hindi actresses in India. She was born on July 16th 1984 in Hong Kong. Her father is Mohamed Kaif from Kashmir and her mother was Suzanne Turquotte belonging to Caucasian race from Britain. She has a big family with eight siblings. She spent most of her time in Hawai during her childhood days and then came to Britain and settled in Mumbai. Her modeling career started at the age of 14 for a jewelry campaign in Hawaii. Later she continued her career as a model in London. She was selected by Eastern Eye as the sexiest Asian women in the world four times. Though she is living in India she has the citizenship of Britain.
Her innocent expressive face gave her immense modeling assignments when she set her foot on the Indian soil. She worked with Atul Kasbekar and showed her face in advertisements of Lakme, Cola, LG, Veet, etc. Initially she suffered from linguistic problem put still put on a bold face and took classes in Hindi and dancing so that she will be able to meet all the expectations of Bollywood.
Her first movie Boom was box office failure. Two other Telugu movies namely Malliswari and Pidugu also did not bring her any popularity. She got good reviews after the movies Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya and Sarkaar. The film New York in 2009 earned her Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Some other films that brought her fame and name are Namastey London by Vipul Shah, Apne by Anil Sharma, Partner by David Dhawan, Welcome and Singh is Kinng by Anees Bazmee, Race by Abbas Mustan, etc. The latest releases are Tees Maar Khan by Farah Khan and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara by Zoya Akhtar. As she has very little knowledge of Hindi, her voice was often dubbed by somebody else. After the film New York, she managed to use her own voice.
The ardent relationship of Katrina Kaif with Salman Khan led to a number of rumors. But she was very diplomatic and did not want her personal life to be discussed in media. Though she appreciates her friendship with Salman even today and has strong bonding with the hot star of Bollywood Ranbeer Kapoor, she confirms that she is single.
