Deepak Dev Biography

Deepak Dev is a well known music director of Malayalam cinema. He is most known for his debut album, Chronic bachelor, and a few more films like - Udayananu Tharam, Naran, Puthiya Mukham and Grandmaster. Deepak Dev is a jaffa native of Thalassery in Kerala, grew up in Dubai. But he started learning Carnatic music from a younger age.

 

While studying at Sacred Heart College for graduation, he started a rock band along with a group of friends which later went on to win the prestigious intercollege competition 'Talent Time - Woodstock' award every year. He has worked as assistant to many leading music directors of Indian film industry including, A.R Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Sandeep Chowta, Vidyasagar, Anu Malik, M.M. Keeravani, Mani Sharma and Adesh shrivastav. He kicked off his career as an individual music director for the movie – Chronic Bachelor in the year 2003. He had to struggle a lot to get a chance in music industry. All songs became huge hits the same year. Top songs are Silayil ninnum, Swayamvara chandrike and Sile sile yaay. Next year, he composed the music of Symphony.

 

Next noted work was Udayanaanu thaaram released in the year 2005. The songs as well as the movie were top hits of the year. When Vineeth Sreenivasan rendered his voice for his father onscreen, it was something like a new history! The chartbuster song was Karale karalinte karalile. He also gave the melodious song, ‘Parayathe ariyathe nee maanjathente’ to the same film. His third noted work was for the movie, Naran. All these three films were done for megastars, Mammootty and Mohanlal and all the three movies became super success at box office too. As a music director, other noted works include - Puthiya Mukham for which he won Asianet best music director award, Christian Brothers, Teja Bhai & Family and Aaru Sundarimaarude Katha. His background score for Urumi won him Kerala State Film Award.
