Vidya Iyer Biography 
Vidya Iyer is an American singer of Indian origin. She was born in Chennai and raised in Virginia. She is a trained Carnatic singer and sings in different languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, English and French. Vidya got noticed and gained attention as a singer through the videos she uploaded in YouTube. Most recently in 2015 she released her first mashup cover on her YouTube channel "VidyaVox" which received over 30 million views since then. Her mashup versions have went viral over net and she has a good fan following. Her YouTube Channel (@vidyavox) has more nearly 1,50,000 subscribers.
Vidya Iyer was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is a half-Malayali and half-Tamilian. She moved to US as a child where she continued with her training in classical music. She was brought up in Virginia, US. She completed her degree in psychology from George Washington University. She got associated with Shankar Tucker, known for his YouTube music channel "The ShrutiBox" and performs in his band. She has also performed in many live shows since then. She got opportunity to perform in White House, National Centre for the Performing Arts (India), and Webster Hall, apart from music festivals.
"Lean On" and "Jind Mahi" are among her popular mashups and she has collaborated with several other musicians. Most recently she released a fusion song of famous Malayalam boat song - "Kuttanadan Punjayile” with extra inputs by Shankar Tucker with whom she has associated with for many live performances. She blends two musical worlds – East and West through her mashups. 'Same Old Love' by Selena Gomez with 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani' of Aradhana, Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down’ with ‘Ennodu Nee Irundhaal’ from the movie I, and Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’ with ‘Hosanna’ from Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa are among her popular mashups.
