The name of Silvassa is the capital of the Indian Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Though this is known as one of the most important economic areas of the region there are several places of interest in the same. This is also one of the most picturesque locales that attract a large number of tourists and visitors to its soil. This is also a place of many natural and historical wonders. There are beautiful landscapes and natural waterfalls that make for a very relaxing holiday.

There are also a number of social festivities and events that are a part of the calendar at Silvassa and if you are lucky you can be a part of the same. There is a wide array of natural reserves in forests, wildlife, gardens and local cultural traditions that will mesmerize you and leave you with one of your most treasured memories. The names of the main tribes that inhabit the region are Dhodia, Kokna and Varli.

The River Daman Ganga travels through Silvassa and flows into the Arabian Sea. It also leaves behind a rich ecological reserve of forest regions. So if you love nature this is the place to be in. if you are looking for the places of Silvassa there is a century old Church – Our Lady of Piety. There is also a Tadkeshwar Mahadev temple that is located at Bindrabin. You will also be able to take a trip through the varieties of tribal culture here at the Tribal Museum. This is a showcase of every aspect of tribal handicrafts and lifestyle accessories. You will be able to see these and even purchase souvenirs. The items range from handicrafts to traditional jewelry, from masks to musical instruments, hunting tool to Warli paintings.

One of the chief aspects of attraction Silvassa prides itself with is the beautiful landscapes and natural expanses of lush greenery. There are very few places that can be more relieving and serene.  Silvassa also has several festivals held at different times of the year. There is the Monsoon Magic Festival held in the month of august. There is the festival of Nariyeli Poornima that is held on the day of Raksha Bandhan. One of the most colorful and traditional tribal festivals is that of the Tarpa Festival that is held at the end of the December till the beginning of January. During the period of Makar Sankranti there is a kite festival that is held here with much fervor.

You can also make plans with one of the budget hotels that are available.  There is also a choice of private tourist accommodations and government guest houses.
