The Ridge is the center of cultural activities of Shimla. On its western side is situated the Scandal Point and on its east is the road the leads to the Lakkar Bazaar where the wooden crafts are sold.

There is a large water reservoir in the Ridge and this is a source of main water supply. The Ridge is the place where the Summer festivals and other local celebrations are conducted. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Dr. Y.S. Parmar, the first Chief Minister of the state are erected here. The Christ Church is one of the important landmarks of this area.
